Supplements That Can Help Adrenal Fatigue
1. Vitamin C
Vitamin C is the one I reach for the most often. It has been one of the best supplements to help in recovery and relief from exaustion after a virus or other illness.
The highest levels of Vitamin C are found in your adrenal glands.

- Relieves your body of damaged cells
- Lowers inflammation
2. Magnesium
Magnesium became another helpful supplement in my recovery journey.
It’s been reported that half of all Americans suffer from a magnesium deficiency.
Low magnesium levels may contribute to symptoms like anxiety, fatigue, and poor sleep.
These three symptoms are stressful on the body and increase the body’s usage of adrenaline and cortisol.
If you suffer from any of these, consider taking a magnesium supplement.
Magnesium citrate and malate are best absorbed by your body.
This is the de-stress vitamin.
If you are under stress, you should consider vitamin B complex.
Be sure you take a supplement with sufficient amounts of all 8 B vitamins. This is an excellent article about B vitamins and adrenal health.
This is also known as B-5 in the family of B vitamins, and is known as a great de-stresser and supporter of adrenal function,
Pantothenic acid slows down the shrinkage of the adrenal glands. A usual dosage is 100-150 mg.
5. Omega-3
Omega-3 helps to reduce inflammation in the body and the stress it puts on your adrenal glands.
6. Probiotics
Much of the strain on our bodies and fatigue we experience as a result is due to an unhealthy gut.
Probiotics may help to heal that. They:
- Aid in good digestion
- Help our bodies use more essential nutrients found in our food
- Help to increase our supply of healthy bacteria,
- Help our bodies fight off viruses
- Help support gut health, which plays an important role in overall wellness and energy
If you have a history of frequent antibiotic use, probiotics may be worth discussing with your healthcare provider.
Benefits of Licorice Root
- Slows down the breakdown of the adrenal glands
- Helps to support healthy adrenal function
- Aids in hormone production
- Increases endurance and energy
Licorice root is not found in licorice candy, so don’t go looking down the sweets aisle; you need to buy this in a supplement form, but check with your doctor first because it also raises blood pressure.
Don’t Try Everything at Once
One mistake I made early on was trying too many things at once.
Start slowly.
Introduce one supplement at a time so you can better understand what is actually helping your body.
